Help

The following are a list of some of the areas that more experienced managers can help with:

Initial Squad assessment

More experienced managers can look at the squad you've been given, assess which players have the potential to be trainees, which you should keep as team players and squad players and which you should probably fire. They can also advise on what other types of players would add to your squad and whether you should consider raiding the transfer market for them at this stage. They can also advise how much these players should cost.

Technical Issues

There are a number of technical things you need to get right from day 1. These are things such as stadium size, number of press officers, number of financial advisors and number of sports psychologists employed. There are many tools around to help with these things but a quick common sense check can always help as well.

Initial training

Arguably the most important part of the game as it's the only way your players improve. Experienced managers can offer advice as to which of your players should be trained and give ideas about which nets they should be getting. This is not a black and white area and you will find that even among experienced managers there are differences of opinion as there are plenty of ways to tackle this. Getting advice can be crucial and give you ideas that you may not have thought of.

Longer term training

Once you've set up training for your initial squad you will be fine for a while. All too soon though you'll need to start thinking more about long term training plans and what your objectives are over the next few seasons. This is probably where more experienced managers can help the most. Indeed the best ones are continuously thinking about this and adjusting their own strategies so no doubt they will have found themselves in the situation you are. They can offer a wide range of alternatives and can project forward, giving you a good insight into what your team may look like in the future depending which training route you go down. They will typically offer a number of alternatives allowing you to choose which one suits you.

Matches

From which pitch type to set to setting orders for your batsmen and bowlers experienced managers will have tried lots of combinations and have views about which ones work best in which situations. Use of this experience can help your players maximise their potential on the field.

As well as these areas West Indies mentors are also happy to help with anything you may have questions about. They can act as a sounding board for any ideas you have and usually will be able to point you in the right direction if there are any articles or resources that would be of assistance.
